Lucca
Lucca is the capital of the province of the same name in northwestern Tuscany. Lucca is situated in a broad alluvial plain, 19 meters above sea level, near the Serchio River, between the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the Tyrrhenian Coast and the Pisan hills. It is an important city for art and traditional culture, presenting avital historic center of extraordinary value, which has conserved almost intact the thick urban network of houses, towers, medieval churches, Renaissance palaces and 19th-century piazzas. |
Pisa
Located few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian coast, Pisa extends along the two side of the Arno. One of the major cultural centers of Italy, Pisa contains a rich artistic patrimony, with medieval re-elaborations of Islamic, Lombard and local influences. |
Cortona
One of the twelve cities of the Etruscan League - substantial fragments of its primitive cyclopean defences can still be seen, incorporated in the medieval walls. Apart from a few fine Renaissance palaces, the prevailing character of Cortona's architecture is medieval, conferring on the steep narrow streets a strong sense of atmosphere.
The city is commandingly situated (altitude 600 metres) and there are magnificent panoramas to every point of the compass, embracing the whole of the Val di Chiana. |
Fiesole
A quiet town at only 9 Km from Florence city center. |
San Gimignano
There are villages whose colours harmonise with the landscape.
When there is fog down in the valley, to those who arrive from the access roads San Gimignano, still kilometres away, appears suddenly behind a bend. With its clear-cut monochrome lines, it seems suspended on grey ripples.
The colour of the stone makes one sense its solid roots that dig into ancient history. The hillocks of the commune form a sort of black, background curtain and, when they become capped with clouds, the village sharply stands out against them.
Sometimes at dawn, the towers light up, taking on a deep pink hue that finally subdues as the twilight fades. |
Montemerano
Located on the hills of Maremma Toscana very close to Terme di Saturnia, this small village is visited every year by thousands of visitors. Here you can find everything: the medieval little streets, the beautiful church of S. Giorgio and last but not least you can taste the wonderful food specialities of this place. Being so close to Saturnia SPA( 3 Km ) it is the ideal place to rest and enjoy yourself.
